About Me I'm starting to get my life back together after developing epilepsy. I have a degree in Theatre and Film and an additional major in Spanish and I do stand-up comedy. The last 2 yrs have been tough though because I have lost my driver's license as a result of the epilepsy, had to turn down a school acceptance in Spain because I can't live alone due to my epilepsy, my part-time job let me go because I had seizures at work, I can’t teach English in Mexico, South America or Spain because I can’t live alone (being epileptic) and I am trying to get into law school, but keep have to postpone my LSAT date ( test to get into Law School). I am a hard working student and the only thing standing in my way is my lack of independence due to my epilepsy. It’s just a shame that I am so over-qualified and cannot take advantage of my opportunities. Fortunately, I have been seizure-free for 4 months now and I am hoping to get my life and independence back!!! :)

Dear Ellen, I have a number of health issues and I am studying to get into law school. I've also been doin stand-up comedy on and off for the last 6 yrs (when my health is good). You are my inspiration! I would love to be a part of your show, not only for the 12 days of Giveaways, even if you would just allow me to be on your show to showcase my stand-up. I may not have much to give this holiday season, but I love to give the gift of laughter- healthy or not, it is something everyone can use and appreciate! :) Love you!

Hi Ellen and crew! Thank you for being such an inspiration. I've recently developed epilepsy and 1 of my kidneys isn't working properly. It's particularly scary bc I lost my older sister to kidney failure. However, the strong people you bring on your show remind me to stay positive and that I really am lucky bc I have a wonderful family. May god bless you!

You are so kind and giving! Your show brought tears to my eyes today. My boyfriend and I are going through some tough times right now. I've developed a health condition, as a result I'm unable to work or live alone so I am at home with my parents. He's at home with his parents too bc his father is very ill. We could sure use some holiday cheer. Thank you for making me laugh everyday- and sometimes cry, tears of joy of course! :)

The world really needs someone like you! Thank you for making so many dreams and wishes come true. You truly are an inspiration to me and not only do you give the gift of laughter, but you give hope! :) Because of you, I started doing stand-up comedy 6 yrs ago, on my 18th birthday (that's when you're legally allowed into licensed comedy clubs where I am from in Canada). Six years later (after a tragic car accident where I was in a coma) I'm still smiling and I live for the laughs because nobody can ever take that away from you and that’s always something you can give to other people! When I was bed ridden for months in my first year of university and sewn up with 180 something stitches, I watched you every day! Since then I've done so much more in my community volunteering and have been so much more grateful for life, health, and happiness. As a result of my car accident I am now an epileptic, but I'm not in a coma!!! You really do see the good in situations and that has rubbed off on me even more so from started watching your show. I've done all kinds of volunteering since I was 12 and now I am studying to get into law school so I can fight for human rights and make the world a better place! It's been quite a journey for me and my family with my new medications and unexpected seizures, I lost my job due to my epilepsy, but thank goodness for my family. They’re supporting me while I study for law school and continue my journey to good health. Despite some hard times, things don’t seem so bad because I am here- alive, I get to watch your show, do local stand up (when I’m well and have time) and make people laugh and thank goodness for PVR because I can still watch your show!!! If you ever need a stand-up comic on your show, I would love to come do it!

Thank you for doing everything you can to make this world a better place! I do what I can with my budget and I donate clothing and canned goods all year round- and double during the holiday season! I also help sand-bag in my community every year because our community is on a river and unfortunately, we flood every spring. I’m a friendly visitor in an old folk’s home in a psychiatric ward. I am studying to get into law school and I am making it my mission to help people in need. I was part of a Youth and Philanthropy club all 4 yrs of high school and now, at 24 years old, my life experiences and your show are truly what motivate to “keep on keepin’ on!” I PVR your show everyday!!!!! Between school and volunteering, there's not much time to make money.
