Hobbies I have made several quilts for my family and friends--it is relaxing. I'm also an avid reader and belong to a monthly book club at our local library. I love to spend time with my six grandchildren and going to the movies with my husband for a date night or my girlfriends for a girls' night out. I am a movie buff especially westerns and war movies and of course, watching Ellen everyday when possible.
About Me My husband and I have been married for 39 years and we have 2 grown children who are married, Lisa who went to Purdue in West Lafayette, IN to receive her vetenarian degree and Eric who went to Indiana University to receive his bachlors degree in business and accounting. Lisa and her husband,Ryan have 2 boys and Eric and his wife, Melissa has 2 girls and 2 boys. I enjoy being with my family. I am retired along with my husband. We worked many years in the school district where our children attended--me as a secretary and my husband as a head custodian. I'm on disability social security since 2008 when I had open heart surgery in August where I had 2 valves replaced, 1 repaired and 3 by passes done along with the maze procedure to try to get me out of a-fib. It was a tough road and then in May 2009 I was diagnosed with uterine cancer and had a complete hysterectomy. In December of 2009, I had a pacemaker put in to help my heart beat regularly. This past January I filled up with water and was put in the hospital where I coded a couple of times and they had to do hyperthermia treatment so my organs wouldn't shut down. My family told me that I was put in a medically induced coma for a week. I spend a month in ICU and another week on the cardiac floor since I had a new pacemaker and defibulator put in. I then went to in house therapy to learn how to do personal hygiene, dress myself and walk with a walker. As of now I'm doing fine--the nurses call me their miracle patient. I go to cardiac rehab 3 days a week to exercise so I can keep my heart strong. During all this time in the hospital and at home recuperating, I looked forward to the time Ellen was on--she made me laugh and I realized that alot of people and families were worse off than I was. She lifted my spirits everyday. In ICU I even had the nurses to move my bed in a better location so I could watch the TV especially when Ellen was on. Thanks, Ellen for the last 10 years of your show with the kindness you have shown to people and animals in need. You are definitely an angel from heaven.

Hi, Ellen! I have watched most all of your shows in the last 10 years and have enjoyed them all, but the shows you did trying to find George Clooney and have him come to your show was the best. I'm not sure what season that was, but it was hysterical--the marching band going through his office, the Radio City Rocketts dancing in the parking lot and in his office and of course I think you had hot, shirtless young men going to his office. You even involved some of your guests on how to get him on your show or to his office. Then he finally arrived with his baseball favorites. Your reaction was memorable. Keep up the great work you are doing--you are making a difference in many lives. Thank you so much for what you do! You are the best.
