Born on September 1, 1996 in Oakland, California, Zendaya grew up as part of the California Shakespeare Theater. She performed in numerous stage productions and spent three years dancing with a dance group called Future Shock Oakland. She landed the role of Rocky Blue in Disney Channel’s hit show “Shake It Up” in 2010 and since then has become one of Disney’s biggest stars. She became the youngest contestant ever on "Dancing with the Stars" and came in 2nd with partner Val Chmerkovskiy. In August 2013, the then 16-year-old released her first book, “Between U and Me: How to Rock Your Tween Years with Style and Confidence." She also has a clothing line called “Shake It Up Dance Clothing Line by Zendaya," which features legwarmers, shorts, jackets, headbands and other apparel. Her debut album is titled “Zendaya,” and she performed her single “Replay” on The Ellen Show in September 2013.
