One Direction burst onto the music scene when they were contestants on "The X Factor UK" in 2010. The five members -- Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis -- are from various parts of the UK and Ireland. They ended up finishing third in the competition, but their career was only just beginning. After mentoring them on the show, Simon Cowell decided to sign them to his label. Their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," had the most pre-orders of any single in Sony's history.
Since then, One Direction has released five albums. In early 2015, they were on the road promoting their newest release when Zayn decided to leave the band. Shortly after his departure, the group released "Drag Me Down," their first single from their latest album, "Made in the A.M."
The boys of One Direction have become some of the biggest heartthrobs of a generation, and find thousands of screaming fans waiting for them wherever they go.
