At the age of 12, Ella Yelich-O'Connor, known by her stage name Lorde, was spotted by an A&R scout when he saw her singing in a video of a talent show at her school in New Zealand. At 13 she was signed to Universal, and by 14 she began working with their songwriters.
Now, at 16, her single "Royals" has gone platinum, reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on Billboard Digital Songs. It even knocked Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball" off the #1 spot on the iTunes download chart. Lorde's debut album "Pure Heroine" is in stores now, and she performed "Royals" on The Ellen Show in October 2013.
