English singer Jessie J is just starting out, but she's got what it takes to be an international star! It was clear from an early age that Jessie J was destined to be an entertainer. Unlike her academic sisters, she had an affinity for performing. She was so good, she was actually kicked out of her school choir at just 11 years old -- because she was drowning out the other kids! The same year, she was even cast in a West End production of "Whistle Down the Wind."
At 16, Jessie J began studying at the prestigious BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. Unfortunately, she suffered a brief setback with a few health problems, including an irregular heartbeat and a small stroke. Her career began to pick up when she got a deal with Sony ATV. She started writing, and penned songs for Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus, including Miley's #1 hit song, "Party in the USA" The entire time, she was also working on her own material. In 2010, Jessie J released her debut single, "Do It Like a Dude," which made it to #2 on the UK charts. Early in 2011, she followed it with the hit single, "Price Tag," which was a success in the UK -- and earned her attention in the United States. Her debut album, "Who You Are," was just released in the United States, but has already been certified platinum the UK.
