In 2009, a song called "Whatcha Say" by an unknown musician named Jason Derulo suddenly exploded on the radio, and launched Jason into stardom. In the span of just a few months, "Whatcha Say" hit #1 on the Hot 100 list and was certified 2x Platinum after it was downloaded over 2 million times.
Jason spent his early years in Miami where he began music lessons at age 8, starting with the piano. Moving to New York as a teenager, he found success early. He studied at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, and in 2006 he won the Grand Championship in a competition at the legendary Apollo Theatre -- at age 16. It wasn't long before he was writing songs for some of the biggest names in R&B, including Lil Wayne, Diddy, Pitbull, and Sean Kingston.
With his unbelievable talent, it was only a matter of time before he was signed to a record label. After landing a deal at Beluga Heights, he wrote the song "Whatcha Say," which became an instant hit. He then set to work on a new album, writing 300 songs and picking only the best 9. It was just released, and to celebrate, he just had to stop by with an exclusive debut performance of his second hit single "In My Head."
