Harry Connick Jr.
Like me, Harry was born in New Orleans. I'll skip some of the details in between, but in a nutshell, Harry has proven himself to be one of the best musicians of our time. In 1989, he was asked to compose the soundtrack for the movie "When Harry Met Sally," which put him in the spotlight and earned him a Grammy. To date, he has released 26 albums -- an impressive 9 of which have been certified platinum or better -- and he's sold over 25 million albums.
He's not just an amazing musician, he's also an actor (you'll remember him as a regular guest on "Will & Grace") and has combined his talents on Broadway. But what I love most about Harry is his heart. He has been a huge supporter of Breast Cancer Research and raised over $2 million. And when Hurricane Katrina hit our hometown of New Orleans, he immediately went down to help. He was there making a difference before any other services arrived, and worked with "NBC Nightly News" to make sure that the country knew what was happening. His passion was so moving.
