Shutterfly Has a Huge Surprise for Blind Pianist!

Today, Ellen sat down with Matthew Whitaker from New Jersey! Matthew was born 23 weeks premature, weighing only 1 lb., 11oz. and was given less than a 50% chance of survival. He was put on oxygen to survive, and sadly it permanently damaged his eyesight when he was only 3 months old.

Despite Matthew's hardships, he began playing the piano at the age of 3, and has never let his blindness stop him from pursing his dream of becoming a musician. He has performed multiple times at The Apollo, and in countries such as Japan, Italy and Morocco! Matthew even opened for one of his idols, Stevie Wonder!

After performing, Ellen’s friends at Shutterfly surprised Matthew with his very own vibraphone! Shutterfly’s mission is to share life’s joy. Find out more about Shutterfly, here!
