As he looked at his team in tears, Coach David Belisle told the Cumberland American Little League crew that they should feel nothing but “pride” over their loss in the World Series. True, they wouldn’t be advancing, but the game was about way more than that.

“You had ESPN jumping!” Belisle pointed out. “They like fires. They like sportsmen. They like guys who don’t quit. They like guys who play the game the right way.”

He added, “Everybody has said you guys are awesome. Awesome. Awesome! So, we’re going to enjoy the next few days… our Little League careers have ended on the most positive note that could ever be.”
