Ellen, Pass this on to anyone who has a "peeing puppy" problem. It will take about 3 days to break the habit. Take a dinner bell and tie it to the door knob (long enough so the puppy can reach it) where you will take the puppy out to do its business. Start by ringing the bell, put the puppy outside. If he does something, praise him greatly. If he does nothing, bring him in and about 10 minutes later, repeat the process. This will be a bit time consuming but by day three (4 or 5 depending on the breed) that puppy will be going to the door and ringing the bell himself. Have done this for all of my dogs and it works great.
