Hello Ellen ! First off I would Like to say I love your show and I watch it everyday ! Your such a wonderful giving person and you inspire me to be a better person . I live with my fiance Bobbie and and we have been together for two years now , but its been really hard financially seeing that I'm unemployed due to being laid off and having Rheumatoid Arthritis and its hard to get around especially not having a car . It would be such a blessing if you could make that happen for us . Thank you for being the person you are .

Ellen,
I first wanted to let you know that no matter how hard of a day I'm having, when your show comes on you can always make me laugh. My husband and I have come on some hard financial times lately. Our car is going to be repossessed and the snow is starting to fly. It takes about a half hour to walk to the grocery store and it's not the simplest task with a 3 month old. Regardless on who you pick for a car I'm sure they are well deserved of it. You have a good heart and I wish you the best.

Thank you
Melissa

Hi Ellen,

My boyfriend and I watch your show every day. We just love you and your show. We have been together for 5 years now. The car we have is 18 years old, and has its many problems. Mike is the type nof guy that will help you out no matter what, and he would give you his shirt of his back. Many many times he has gone to help his family and friends with there cars to get them back up in running. Anything from putting in new wind shield wippers to fixing your brakes. He is awesome, as of now he is on disability and is unable to work. Now that it is getting colder out we are finding more and more problems with is car. He need new brakes, shocks , he windows and roof leak. The heat is spoty working at
Best. The windows dont work and if we dont pull them up when we go in for the night, and it rains the car will be all wet. I would love to tell him that heis getting a new car for christmas. That would be the best christmas gift I could ever give him.

Thanks Ellen

Hi Ellen!! My daughter was just diagnosed on Oct. 11th,2013 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at 7 years old. I have 4 children and have had to take the last month and a half off work to solely take care of my daughter and the rest of my family. My husband works for a small company and because of that,we were told, the Family Medical Leave Act does not pertain to their company. This event has completely turned our life upside down. My best friend has loaned us her car since our daughters diagnosis so we had 2 vehicles to be able to work and get to the hospital. When I heard on your show you were giving away a car through Hyundai Hope on Wheels I was amazed!! I had never heard of this organization so quickly looked it up. My daughter will have 2 1/2 years of treatment to fight Leukemia. We are told it will be a long, hard road. Please consider my family... love and hugs!!! Carey

Hi Ellen,
This comes to you on behalf of my older brother, he is now 32 and has muscular dystrophy. The time has come for him to transition into a wheelchair. Up until now my parents have done their best to provide a ‘normal’ life for him, however my dad can no longer continue to lift him out of his car, up from his chair, off of the toilet, in and out of the shower and up and down the stairs. That being said he does continue to lift his grown son in that manner. One of my brothers biggest trepidations about going into a wheelchair is his inability to drive as he can not afford a van, much less one that has hand controls and access for a wheelchair. Through numerous surgeries, doctors appointments, CAT scans etc my brother has always remained positive, however this latest realization of the possibility of never driving again has really gotten him down. While other teens were participating in sports and out partying on weekends my brother was learning about cars and working on them. His ability to drive is his freedom and without this he will no longer be able to commute to his work, which is an hour away. As you can imagine it takes an amazing and understanding employer to realize his condition and provide suitable work for him, and finding a new job is not as easy as one might think. My brother is amazing in that he continues to work full time, continues to be a contributing member of his church and continues to support those around him despite the adversities he faces. I know a vehicle that could be transitioned into one for his wheelchair and with hand controls would lessen the financial burden on him and the family. Thank you so much for your generosity, I know whomever receives the vehicle will be deserving!
Thank-you!

Ellen, Yes, I need car!! This couldn't have come at a better time. I praying you choose me as this would be for my son. I know every mother can say their children are amazing but I know that my son is more than that. He has shown me strenght that I didn't know I had, and yet I am the one that should be strong for him. It's not fair that he has to deal with Cancer at a young age. He was diagnosed with Metastatic stage 4 Synovial Cell Sarcoma.... Even now, I have a hard time saying this because I can't believe this is happening. He was diagnosed in March he was 17 years old and I was 7 months pregnant. I spent almost 3 months with him living at the hospital. I didn't see my daughter or husband because I would go to work and back. I couldn't take off because I would then lose my maternity leave. Due to all the stress my baby was born earlier than expect and underweight. The bond that my two son's have is unexplainable, he loves his little brother so much. I feel that as he is fighting this brutal war that has taken a piece of him away from me every day, he makes sure I'm the one doing ok. He's undergine radiation, major abdominal surgery and currently on chemo. Through all this, he is determined to go to college. He is in his freshman year at the University of Chicago. He commutes there and back almost 2 hours, half a mile walk, bus transfer and the train each way. My fear is that pushing himself in the winter will eventually land him in the hospital with something that can cause more damage. Please help me make it easier for him to get to and from school safely. With all his appointments, a new baby and my daughter is also force to walk to work. I feel awful that I am not able buy him a car because of all our medical expenses. Please help me grant him this wish. I know you are a very caring, generous and amazing person. You've brought a smile to our faces when we were stuck within four walls. He is my hero, my strength, the one that holds me together. This would be such an ENORMOUS help for our family. This would totally turn my son's year around. Please Help!

Sincerely
Issed Perez

Dear Ellen,

Hi my name is Hattie C.my crisis was in 2006 after getting out of the hospital and my marriage for 13 yrs ended by my ex husband kicking me out of our house for 6 yrs .In 2007 I Went through most of the year through separation and then a divorce in September 2007 and not seeing my kids ,"not because i didn't want to but because my ex husband didn't allow me to".i lived with my mother who kicked me out and my kids twice .friends and family did the same thing. i have been homeless for 7 yrs my kids have been with me for half of those yrs .we went to a homeless shelter and they didn't help us either so we been back to square one of trying to get the important things we need to get back on our feet and not having a car u cant get a job to get the things necessary .its cold now and the amount that it would cost us to get a car we don't have because our means of money is below poverty .and we only have one or two choices get a car or get a place and we cant afford a place on a fixed income.
(HELP US GET A CAR SO IF WE ARE KICKED OUT OR IF THEY MAKE US LEAVE WE'LL HAVE A PLACE TO STAY THAT WILL KEEP US WARM IN THE COLD WEATHER .)THANK YOU ELLEN FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT OF YOUR DAY TO LISTEN AND READ OUR LIFE STORY.(HAVE A BLESSED YR)

Dearest Ellen,
I love your show and all that you do for others. You are such a generous person. I am a single mother with three wonderful children. We have been through very hard times over the past few years. My oldest daughter, Hunter is 14 years old and an amazing young lady. My middle daughter, Camryn is 11 years old and is a very special young girl. Camryn has been diagnosed with a mild cerebral palsy and has a lesion on her brain stem that we are watching right now. Camryn also has processing disorder and has a very hard time academically. My son, Austin is 9 an he has Down Syndrome. Austin is an amazing young boy. He had heart surgery when he was 2 weeks old and was then diagnosed with leukemia (AML) when he was 2 1/2 years old. Austin is doing well now but we are starting to see side effects from the chemotherapy that he received for 9 months. At that time my children and I walked through their father leaving the family and rebuilding our lives. I was very lucky to have family and friends that helped us through this hard time. Over the last few years I have struggled with everything. I do not receive any child support as the child's father was indicted with mortgage fraud. I work part-time and do everything I can to keep our lives going. My Mom and Dad were so gracious to help us get a mini van back in 2007. It was used but we were so excited and are still happy to just have a car. My van is now giving me problems and we would be so thankful for anything. We live in Tucson, Arizona and everything in our city is so spread out that taking the children to appointments, therapies, etc. is not close and you need a dependable car. I want to thank you for all you do for others and thank you for just considering my letter.

Oh and a special note...I know you are friends with Justin Beiber. My son, Austin is such a fan and trys to dance just like him!!!
Thanks again Ellen! The Quiroz Family (Kim, Hunter, Camryn & Austin)

Hi Ellen, it's me the determine mom. I can't tell you enough how amazing my son Christian Arriaga is. He is the strongest of heart, the bravest of them all and yet he is only 18. I was so excited to see that hyundai was sponsoring this give away. My son and I were thrown into the club that no one wants to be a part of, the Cancer Fighting Club. Christian had been fighting since March and had been through so much. It's awful that this has robbed him of the life he should be living and enjoying at this time. I am so proud at how strong and determined be is to beat this. As a family we are doing everything we can to fight. He is doing everything to keep moving forward with his life. He's continued with his plans to go to college. His plan is to get his degree in nursing. It's been difficult for him physically commuting to school especially now that winter is here. College is the only normal thing in his life right now. Please please help his commute get safer and easier for him, he at least deserves the chance to stay in school. I can't afford to buy him a car because of his medical expenses. Please help me grant him this wish.

Your number one fan,
Issed Perez

Ellen, your time period and demeanor on your show is perfect for an old , retired teacher who is now subbing. It a relaxing way to unwind from the rigors of work. Thank-you!
Today, you mentioned the Hyundai car give-away. My son, Steven, is in dire need of a vehicle that doesn't rain on the inside. He works at a local pizza place as a cook, and he loves his job, but must pay off his college loans, before he even thinks about looking at a newer car. Not only does the sunroof leak, it's bound with blue duct tape ( which really doesn't help), so he carries a beach towel with him, just in case - it rains while he's at work. Not only does the roof leak, the windshield does, too.
That's not all! The dashboard is not secured, the outer, pretty part is falling apart, the inner door panels are loose, so he has to open the window to close the door from the inside!
He takes care of the maintenance to save money, but is embarrassed when someone needs to ride with him.
Thanks for reading my letter, keep doing what you do so well, I look forward to tuning in to seeing Ellen in my living room at the end of my work day! Linda

Aloha Ellen. After reading some of the comments below I feel my story doesn't measure up but I have to try. Two years ago, after one car died, we bought a 1997 BMW for our daughter. It was a decent car and for a price we could afford, $1700. She's 23 years old, a college student, musician and works for a retail store. She moved to the L.A. area with her bandmates to try to make it in the music world and for the experience. She's been having problems with her car, the mechanic told her it would cost $3000. Almost double what we bought it for. We can't afford to fix or buy another car. Help please. We're worried for her safety.

Hi Ellen,
Im responding to the question, do you need a car. I just recently had my second child he is now 3 months old. My husband and I both work and we have a 3 year old daughter and our newborn son. He drives an old Trans Am that is not safe for the kids so he can not take them anywhere. I drive a small car that doesnt have any room for our new bundle of joy. When all four of us do go out together my seat sets so far into the dash because of the baby seat that when we reached our destination I have bruises on my knees. I know that we do have transportation but I figured this was worth a shot. We have lots of bills to try to keep up with and are barely making ends meet to keep ourselves out of debt or we could purchase a car that we could all ride in. There are some weeks we can afford just enough to put groceries in the kitchen and other weeks we are digging up change for gas to go to work. So Im not sure when we will ever have the chance to get a family car. Even if we dont get picked I will be happy if you just read this, I LOVE YOU!! Your number two on my list, I will eventually meet you and see your show in person!! Only number 2 behind visiting the Dallas Cowboys stadium. Hard decision, its close lol Thanks for listening.
