Hi Ellen, I'm a black female that had a privilege to play football for the Walnut Jr. High School football team between 1977-1978 the coaches gave me a chance to do something, I been waiting seen like a life- time,a chances to play football,and guess what I fitted right in . The guys looked at me as a girl.,but as a player, because of the hard work and hard practices it pay off. We became All-Conference Champ that year.I became part-history of Walnut School in the Small town of Walnut,Mississippi. I loved my family,my school, my coaches,my teammates,and most of all my fans that cheered us on at tevery game, yes,this discrimination because she's a girl,show me in a book,where it say football is for boys,it's for whoever has the heart to play . I think the rule needs to be changed and say, if u have the heart to play male or female then play ball( MY MOM ALWAYS TOLD ME' IF YOU START SOMETHING THEN FINISH IT'' REMEMBER A WINNER NEVER QUITS AND A QUITTER NEVER WINS)! I would like to thank 4 men for give me a chance and for not seeing me as a girl but seeing me as a player, Coach Cecil Stroup, Coach Jody ( cowboy shoes) Wallace, Coach Jeff Wright , and late Coach Fields, remember the football player is the heart of the person male or female never ever discourage on youth because of there sex! So with nothing else being said!! Enjoy you childhood, So let the young girl play ball, #10 play ball.
