It's Day 8 of 12 Days! Fun Facebook Fakeout

Dear Ellen,
In April a traumatic event happen that change all of our lives forever.My sister and I along with two other passengers were victim of a drive by shooting.My sister protected a baby and was shot in her heroic efforts.That night she had to undergo a 5 hour surgery she went into shock and almost died.That night she survived her surgery and was in icu for 10 days she later had two more surgeries to complete the repairs and close her.She spent twenty-four days in total in the hospital.My sister has been through a really horrible experience but she is very strong she makes the best of it.She is currently trying to finish her senior year with her class of 2013 and that is not easy she has one foot that does not function properly due to nerve damage so she uses a leg brace she cannot walk without it.It helps to support her ankle .She recently had her fourth surgery to remove a bullet fragment which was in her bladder and causing much pain and discomfort.She still has fragments inside her the Dr. says he will not bother them unless they start to give trouble.My mom has been the best support through it all she has been by her side in the hospital she would basically live in the hospital when my sister was there.It has affected all of the family but mostly my mom my sister and I.We lost my dad in motor vehicle accident so my mom has raised us both on her own.That night my sisters dreams died.She loved wearing high heel and now she can only wear sneakers.This has not been easy for her but she has been a trooper.She has to do classes both in school and online.My mom has become her personal nurse and chauffeur taking her to doctor appointments,rehab,school ,and anywhere she needs to go.And she was looking forward to driving herself around now that she's 17.It has certainly not been a great year for us .But the fact that she is alive and her with us and with prayers and help from family and friends.We will make it through.I think it is great what you are doing and it would really be nice if you can make this Christmas wonderful for her.
