On a visit with her two French-speaking children, Wanda ran into some trouble with the seals. Do you know the French word for "seal"?

She spelled it wrong. It's "phoque". But pronounced the same indeed!

Just a quick note to let you know that a seal in French is spelled "phoque" and not foch.
Just wanted to let you know that.

That is a really funny story Wanda was telling on the show about the seals. A similar incident happenned with my dad and his neighbors. My dad was trying to tell his neighbor about the seals making so much noise the previous evening. As he was recounting his story he didn't realize that every time he was saying the word seal, he was saying it in french, "phoque". His neighbor, Miranda, never having heard him swear before could not understand why he was so upseat and "swearing" so much so she went to ask my mom. My mom was laughing so hard it took her over 10 minutes to explain to Miranda that my dad was not upset, nor was he swearing, but that he was in fact talking about the seals making so much noise the nigh before. lolololol

It is spelled phoque. Our kids in Quebec are really happy when they learn this word because they can say it and not get in trouble.
