Dear Ellen,

Let me begin this email with a sincere thank you for the joy bring to people's lives through your program, and your self-less generosity to those around you. It is inspiring and heartwarming.

I have decided to provide free senior portraits sessions to the graduating young men at Boys Republic in Chino, California. Boys Republic is a special facility (sponsored in great part by Steve McQueen) that seeks to give adolescent youth with behavioral, educational, and emotional difficulties an opportunity to achieve their maximum potential for responsible, self-directed life within the community.

As I was online on your website and saw the many JCP promotions, was compelled to send you a special request: Many of these boys do not have nice clothing fitting of a photography shoot. With JCPenny virtually around the corner, might you consider helping sponsoring a community outreach program whereby boys might get a new shirt, tie, anything small and special to help them feel worthy on the day they have their graduation?

I understand you get a variety of requests. I am blessed with so much, that I want nothing. I have worked with these boys in baking cookies for troops as part of my church, and have heard many troubling stories of their early family lives. However, as they rehabilitate their lives, they work so hard while they are at this facility. (In fact, they are getting ready for their huge community Christmas wreath campaign! They assemble gorgeous wreaths and sell them to the community with the profits benefiting the Boys Republic!)

I pray that this letter somehow get to you. I would so like to see the feeling of giving extend longer than Christmas with those at this unique facility. You can learn more at

God bless, and merry Christmas,

I absolutely LOVE your show. I try to watch everyday. I had previously sent you a message to your Facebook acct. but thought I should also send to your show. A friend of mine asked me to pray for a little boy in Georgia that has been burned very badly (2nd & 3rd degree burns). Gabe is 3 yrs old. His family has a facebook page "Prayer for Gabe" where his Mom gives updates on his condition. This family also has 2 smaller children. I don't know if there is anything your show can do to help this family. My heart just breaks everytime I see his photo. Please check out this FB page. Thank you for all you do and my you & Portia have a wonderful Thanksgiving.
