I wouldn't consider bees wax or honey vegan but according to research 50% of American vegans eat honey. I think it's a personal choice. It's better to support no animal testing that do nothing at all be she could make better choices like supporting Crazy Rumors Lip Balms instead.

Does anybody know if Ellen's own lip balm sold on her site is Vegan and Cruelty free?

While supporting companies that do not test on animals is admirable, the real truth about Burt's Bees is that it is merely a subsidiary of Clorox now, so buying Burt's ultimately supports a company that is not cruelty-free. See the Leaping Bunny site: http://www.leapingbunny.org/skin.php

I understood Ellen follows a vegan philosophy, and honey or other bee products would not be considered vegan. I'm not judging, but when I try to explain to people what vegan means and they see this kind of contradictory info, it confuses the heck out of them. Can you enlighten?
