This family is the definition of absolute selflessness; God bless them! While in the midst of their own tragedy, including losing their own home, such valor demonstrated! They were there through rain, rising water and hurricane-force winds to save lives when authorities could not send anyone to get to the families trapped in their community. Knowing of this family, as thankful as they are to have rescued so many, they are saddened by the ones they could not get to :'( They still continue to help their community with recovery, including to help organize a donation center/command post in the aftermath. Ellen, thank you for recognizing them!

A remarkable family!! I feel an inch tall from my writing to you about my trivial problems!! We should all take something away from this family like being unselfish and as you put it be kind to everyone!!

I find Ellen to be the most generous & caring person, especially when it comes to doing anything that involves her hometown & mine too - New Orleans. You can tell she really loves us even though she does not live here anymore. We love you Ellen, thanks for all you do for New Orleans people and others around the country.
