Batgirl
- Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier
- Gender: Female
- Born: 2005
- Loves to play, snuggle, and relax
- Needs a home without kitties
- Great with other dogs
One look at her extraordinary ears, and you know how she got her name. Batgirl was originally rescued from the flood waters of Hurricane Katrina when she was just a puppy. And she's been waiting and hoping for a home of her own ever since!
A friendly and healthy dog, Batgirl came to the Sanctuary from a shelter in Texas. She enjoys petting, and will stay close by your side. Batgirl loves being around people and is up for doing whatever you like. She's good on walks and knows the "sit" command. This happy girl likes to go on outings. She is also good around other dogs. We think she'd do best with an active single person, couple or family with teenagers.
One woman who took her on a sleepover said, "She has the best manners, she rides well in the car... I honestly felt like I was dog-sitting for someone's family pet." Would you be the one to give Batgirl a home?
Buddha
- Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
- Gender: Male
- Born in 2002
- Always the loudest purr in the room
- Favorite thing is sitting in your lap
- Best without other cats
A plump and affectionate cat, it's hard not to notice Buddha. He's happy to approach you for attention, knead his paws, and rub his fuzzy head against you. Buddha was rescued from Hurricane Katrina, and then his foster home didn't work out. So he's had a rough go of it. But you'd never know it by meeting him! He's such a giant love bug.
He can be a bit of a tough guy to other cats if they aren't tough enough to stand up to him, so it's best if he doesn't go to a home with any meek cats in it. Otherwise, he's playful, unbelievably affectionate, and just a wonderful, big guy!
