adoptable pets of the week

During Best Friends Animal Society's Back in Black 2 national pet adoption event, adoption fees are waived on all black dogs, cats and rabbits adopted from Best Friends sanctuary between May 1 and 31. Change their future!

Lady Opal

  • Breed: Domestic Medium Hair
  • Gender: Female
  • Born in 2005
  • Healthy
  • Loves attention
  • Would prefer an adult home

Opal doesn't have any self-esteem problems. She likes for you to pet her. But if you fuss over her too much for too long, she may start giving you "diva attitude." She tolerates other cats and really couldn't care less whether there are a few in her new home or not. Just so long as there's plenty of attention left for the most important cat!

Opal was one of hundreds rescued from a neglectful animal shelter in Nevada that was shut down. So it shows what a strong character she has, that she's the delightful princess you see. Many of the other cats are still struggling to adjust, but not Opal! She's ready to find love.

Elijah

  • Breed: Labrador Retriever
  • Gender: Male
  • Born: 2009
  • Healthy and active
  • Super friendly to people and dogs
  • Would love to be your running partner

He is three years old, but still loves to romp, play, and just run like crazy.

Elijah needs some basic training. Lesson number one, an open door is not an invitation to dash. And, as a runner, once Elijah dashes, he really dashes. Once he settles in, and with a little training, however, this big, lovable Lab will soon see there's no place like home. Actually, there's no place like your home! You will see from his video that this all-American dog is already learning patience and a few tricks.
