Dear Ellen,
I am a pregnant woman halfway through my second trimester with my first child. I have had a difficult pregnancy, with no end in sight according to my doctor. I was diagnosed early with a condition called Hyperemesis Gravidarum (like your distant cousin Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge), which is a rare form of unrelenting nausea, vomiting, and dehydration. My doctor told me that only 1% of women get this, and I would never wish this on anyone. I rarely can keep anything down, and I have been admitted to the emergency room 17 times since January for malnourishment and dehydration! My husband and I have blown through our tiny nest egg paying all of the hospital bills, leaving us with nothing in our savings going forward. So, in order to try and keep the bills from bankrupting us, I continue to work my over-forty hour weeks while extremely nauseous (I often step into the restroom to vomit in between each class).
While I am very excited about getting to meet my daughter this summer, my worries at being able to afford to care for her, and the effects the Hyperemesis may be causing to her development give me daily concern and sleepless nights. While happy to be a first time mother, my husband and I struggle to get by day-to-day and the economic cost of raising our daughter has tempered our excitement at her arrival. I am a former ballerina who lost her job in the shrinking economy and now teach dance over forty hours a week while pregnant. My husband is in graduate school (doing research in juvenile diabetes) and we exist paycheck-to-paycheck scraping by these days. Purchasing items for the baby further eats into our ever-shrinking budget, and our concern for our daughterʼs future grows as much as my belly does each day.
I would love to be a part of your Mother’s Day celebration because I would love to have just one day to completely let loose and enjoy and celebrate my pregnancy!
Hi Ellen!
I am such a huge fan of yours and everything you represent! The kindness and generosity that you spread is inspiring and never fails to bring a smile to my fac or a tear to my eye.
I am excited to finally be able to say that I am expecting and cannot wait to be a first time mommy! My husband and I lost our first baby last summer and went through a string of fertility issues that the doctors could only diagnose as "bad luck". Our bad luck got worse in January of this year, when I was laid off because I told my former employer that I was still trying and that because of our issues in trying to conceive, I wasn't going to be able to travel. I had been with them for 4 years and lost thousands of dollars of tuition money from classes that I had to drop out of in my MBA program because I was asked to travel (none of which was reimbursed, nor was any of the $110,000+ that I paid to receive my MBA in my field). The lay off left me and my husband car-less, computer-less, and phone-less with a heck of a lot of student loan debt weighing us down.
Shortly after, I was scheduled to se a fertility specialist to try to figure out if there was anything else going on causing our fertility issues. I was late, but I figured it was due to the stress of our situation, but on a whim, I decided to take a pregnancy test on the morning of my appointment. It was positive! We were shocked and elated!
I have since gone on a few interviews, and upon the "offer" stage of the process, I have disclosed that I am expecting and any offer is completely removed from the table. Again, illegal, but I'm learning firsthand that this is not new or unique to me in my situation. I am saddened by this, but is it all overshadowed by the pure joy of growing my little bundle of joy. Last week, my husband and I heard our baby's heartbeat on the doppler! This is will be the first of the next generation in both of our families, and we're the first of our group of friends to have a baby, and were able to make the announcement to our families during the terror of this past week (we live in Boston) to lift their moods and bring a little sunshine in an otherwise terrible time.
I will be glued to your Mother's Day show (as I am everyday!) to hear the recommendations for baby gear and mommy tips from other expecting mommies!!!
Hi, Ellen! I'm so excited to be pregnant with our first baby. We've been trying for almost 2 years. Last year I had 2 miscarriages and almost $10,000 in infertility treatments, and miraculously, we conceived naturally early this year. You can see my story at www.adventures-in-babyland.blogspot.com. I submitted my entry last week. My husband and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your show and I will be SOOO thrilled if you pick me!! Plus, I think it would be the coolest way to announce it to our families!! When will you be notifying the winners??
HI Ellen, I'm so excited to say I will finally be a mommy! I believe I'm just as deserving as other first time mommies, but I am the biggest fan of them all! I am always entering your contests, and requesting tickets to your show. I never give up hope that one day I will be chosen for a ticket or maybe a lucky winner! I would be mean more than you know to finally get something new and unused instead of buying nice things on resale. Not only would I love my baby to have the best of the best, but also to tell him or her who it came from as well as how mommy got to be on Ellen when they were in my tummy. I'm hoping, wishing, and praying that I will be one of the lucky ones chosen for this most incredible and amazing experience. Love you Ellen.
Hi Ellen!!!
I am sooo excited to be expecting my very 1st baby! My husband and I have been married for almost 4 months but we dated for over 8 years before that! We always knew we wanted a baby and we are so happy it's finally happening to us! It's the most incredible feeling to know we created this new life together! We had our 1st ultra sound at 8 weeks where we got to see our little baby's heartbeat and last week, we got to hear the heartbeat! It is the best sound in the whole wide world! I listen to it over and over again! I come from a line of amazing mothers and I can't wait to follow that lead and be the best mommy for my little one! I can't imagine a better 1st Mother's Day than celebrating it with Ellen! I have been a huge fan and loved her since I was little! Ellen always brings a smile to my face! She is such an amazing inspiration and role model. She makes me want to be a happier, more generous person. I love dancing with her everyday when I get home from work and watch her show! I work full time as a legal secretary for 2 attorneys and I would love to ditch that for a day to come see Ellen! I have dreamt of the opportunity to see Ellen and come on her Mother's Day show! It is my one and only opportunity and I would die for the chance! I would be so very appreciative and excited if I were picked! I literally cannot stop thinking about it! I am so overjoyed with this pregnancy and this has been the best year of my life and being on the Ellen show would only make it better!!!
Love,
Your biggest fan and happiest, most excited prego girl!

Ellen,
My name is Lindsey, I will be 22 this year, and I live in Port Saint Lucie, Florida. I was born to be a mom, and three days ago, I found out I was pregnant. I have never been so happy, or felt so very blessed, God truly answered our prayers! I have been working 40 hours a week since I turned 18, to be able to contribute to my family. We moved out on my own a year ago and things have been so great, we've been working so hard to plan for our family. Unfortunately, the day after I found out about my pregnancy, I was let go from my job. I'm currently looking for a job, but my worst fear is not being able to provide for my baby. Needless to say this has been the happiest and scariest week of my life. I would love to come to your show and meet other mothers. There is no support like that of someone who is going through the same scenario. I think it would be a beautiful experience for me and emotionally beneficial. Your show is always so entertaining and uplifting! Definitely two things I could use in my life, I hope and pray that I can make it. Happy almost mother's day to all of you expecting mothers! God bless:)
I LOVE ELLEN! She is so funny and generous! After 6 long years of infertility including 5 miscarriages, 2 failed adoptions and one beautiful baby boy dying in our arms at 11 days old, I am finally going to be a mom! I am due Sept. 7, I will be 42 years old. Better late than never! We have suffered tremendous loss financially and emotionally, so it would be nice to celebrate with Ellen and have some fun things to take home for baby and me! Please please pick me!!!

Ellen!
Yes, after 14 months of trying my husband and I are finally having our first child. We are so excited! I am due October 15, 2013 and am deserving to be in the audience of your Mother's Day Show along with my mom :) She has been wanting another grandchild for years and I have always brushed it off because I didn't want her to get worried about us trying for so long. Well, I found out the day before Valentine's Day and am still waiting to tell her at the right moment. We would have a blast because you put on a terrific show. I work hard, eat well, and am totally stoked about being pregnant for the first time. Hope to see you soon!
Ellen,
Love your show! I have always wanted to come to your mothers day show! I am going to be a first time mommy to TWINS after a long journey of infertility :)...I am a little sad I won't be able to be at the show like I wanted since I will be to far along to fly, but I will be watching from home(like always). I think it is so great how you are always helping people and you truly make people happier:)
My girlfriend really deserves to be on the show,we live in Florida but this is our first child and she is expected on the 16th of May which is only days after the mothers day show, but shes in College full time, she works part time but she still always makes time for me and her family and I just think shes so amazing juggling all of this while having her big belly and I know she only wants the best for our little son on the way and this would just make her more than happy to know we have a head start on things, because I work full time and we just moved in to our own place, but we dont have it all too bsd but we know with your generosity everything could be so much better Ellen, we love your show and we never miss it unless were working, then we just watch you when we get home lol. We hope to hear from you, we love you and she doesnt know im sending this but she would be thrilled to hear from you :) goodbye Ellen
