make your closet cruelty free

Living a Vegan lifestyle isn't just about our diet. It also affects what we wear. Converting your closet to a cruelty-free one isn't as hard as you think. It just comes down to reading labels. Coats, sweaters, shoes and belts are marked with what they are made of. Even purses and wallets have labels. The key words to avoid are wool, leather, suede, shearling, cashmere, angora, silk and down. The words you want to see are synthetic, faux and man-made. And of course, there are plenty of animal-friendly fabrics like cotton, fleece, nylon, polyester, hemp and cork. Some shoe and purse designers are even using recycled water bottles and bicycle tires!

If you are shopping online, put those cruelty-free words in your search engine, plus the item you are looking for such as "faux fur boot" or "synthetic down coat" and all sorts of fabulous options will pop up. Many online shopping sites these days even have a vegan section, like Zappos and Lulus.
