Adoptable Pets of the Week

Fire
This girl has a blazing spirit -- you can't help but be drawn to her!
Fire is so endearing, her rescuers wanted to keep her in the family after they found her as a stray in New Mexico, but she and their older dog loved to romp so much, and he already has such bad arthritis that he'd be limping really badly after playtime. They were afraid he'd get hurt even more, carrying on with Fire all of the time. So Fire came to Best Friends.
Fire has been through a lot of changes lately, so she might be a little shy at first. But it takes all of 20 seconds to light that spark, and soon she feels quite certain you will be her new best friend. And that means when she's scared of something, she'll turn straight to you for reassurance. Unfortunately, if you aren't around to reassure her, she could take off, looking for a safe place to hide. Because she is a bit of a flight risk, and with the recent removal of an eye, she'd do best in a family with children who are at least 15 years old.
Fire also still needs to learn a few things about being the perfect pet, but she's getting the hang of it. Someone willing to continue showing her the ropes, or who has other dogs who can be good role models, would be ideal for her.
Fire was born in 2008 and she would love to move in with you. What do you say?
Chilli
Chilli has every reason not to trust people. Part of the Great Kitty Rescue, she is one of hundreds of cats saved from horrible neglect in the Pahrump, Nevada desert. But with patience and love, this beautiful girl's good nature has triumphed over her past. And now Chilli is the first cat to greet her caregivers every morning, and she welcomes attention and petting! She's also fantastic with other cats.
In good health, Chilli was born in 2005. She takes a little time to warm up to strangers, but once she knows you, this sweetheart loves to be petted. In a real home, her caregivers believe Chilli may even learn to like being a lap cat. A mellow girl, she happily spends her time chillin' out with friends and taking catnaps.
Chilli is just about the perfect cat, yet she's never had the chance to be someone's cherished kitty. Could you take her home and treasure her forever?
