Ellen,
I am a school librarian at an amazing school here in southern CA. And we have the hardest working students and parents but we need to hold more parent in services and give our parents more fun events with the students in math, science, history and reading but they is no funds to have family events.

Please help us so we can hold events like 6th grade math evening or science workshops so parents can come and assist their students make or learn new concepts together. I was once the school's program specialist and these were at one time so advantageous for everyone and this allowed parents to meet other parents and get to know the teachers and staff at a relaxed event. I miss the funding to hold reading workshops with real books to give to parents to make reading more fun at home and our students miss having art projects because of the testing requirements. Our school has close to a score of 830 with 1,400 students and 73% of our students qualify for free or reduced meals. I miss taking students or sending them to the J. Paul Getty Museum to see another side of LA and the world.

Thank mew for your time,
Mrs. Desalernos >^..^
