Ellen has partnered with Best Friends Animal Society to help the thousands of adoptable animals find homes. Every week on the website, we'll feature a pet in need of a home. You can learn more about Best Friends Animal Society and find out more about the animals they're helping -- on their website.

This week we're featuring Maude. She's a feisty little lady who likes to play with stuffed animals, even ones that are as big as or bigger than she is! Maude enjoys belly rubs, and if you stop petting her, she'll roll over on her back and wiggle to ask for more. She also likes leash walks, lap time, and all kinds of food.

Maude greets visitors with enthusiasm, wagging her tail and seeking attention. Born in 1998, she's frisky and playful with plenty of stamina. She looks and acts much younger than her years. But she came to Best Friends from a sad situation. During the night, someone dumped her in a holding cage at a Missouri shelter. That would be scary for any dog, but it was especially frightening for Maude because she can't see.

Maude gets around just fine despite her poor vision. She's been on a few sleepovers and received rave reviews. She gets along with cats, though she's picky about her doggie friends.

She's hoping to become somebody's lap dog for the rest of her life. If you'd take her in your arms, she'd be the happiest dog in the world!

Best Friends' adopts to all of the United States and Canada. If you would like to adopt Maude, please contact Best Friends Animal Society right here. (adoptions@bestfriends.org)
