Ellen decided to end Cat Week by doing something important. Her pet food company, Halo, is donating $5,000 to the Burbank Animal Shelter, which has 150 cats that need to be adopted. You can find out more about Halo Pet Products here.
Ellen is also encouraging everyone to adopt a cat. Below are some great organizations nationwide. A few that Ellen supports here in Los Angeles are:
The Amanda Foundation
The Amanda foundation has placed thousands of animals in loving homes. It is a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs and cats who, through no fault of their own, are spending their last days at City and County shelters.
The Lange Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving homeless and abandoned pets, preparing them for a journey to a new, safe, loving world.
Burbank Animal Shelter
Ellen featured the adorable kitten, Stubbs, on the show today. He is currently at the Burbank Animal Shelter, which is devoted to providing medical, social, behavioral and financial care for animals at risk, and determined to eliminate animal homelessness in the Burbank community.
The following are some National Organizations that can help you find a great place to adopt a cat:
The Humane Society of the United States
The Humane Society of the United States is the nation's largest animal protection organization, backed by 11 million Americans. They work to reduce suffering and improve the lives of all animals by advocating for better laws; investigating animal cruelty and providing direct care for thousands of animals.
American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)
The ASPCA was the first humane organization in the Western Hemisphere, founded in 1866. Their mission is to provide effective means for the prevention of cruelty to animals throughout the United States.
Petfinder is an online, searchable database of animals who need homes. It is also a directory of more than 13,000 animal shelters and adoption organizations across the U.S., Canada and Mexico.
