Hello- I have found a love in my heart for older animals, mostly cats. My younger brother passed away and had a cat named "Bat" I took bat in. As the years went by I needed to sell my house and I could not take Bat when I was staying for the 4 months it took to find a new house. I called every shelter, every rescue league- no one would take a cat 16 yrs old. I had ever intention of taking Bat back when I bought my house. The last place I called in Ma was "All Pets Rescue" I met with Diana, one of the founders. What these people do it foster pets in homes, Diana and other would at time have 15 cats, dogs etc living in each volunteers home. Bat went with Diana and we became the best of friends. I found a house sooner than I thought and Bat came home. 2 Other cats came home also, Penny and Jenny- they were almost 20 yrs and the owner died and the kids didnt want them. I took them. Jenny died within a year and Penny lives about 5 years. I would get calls to foster older cats from Diana. I would take them, knowing they were old and ill-- without many years left. I cried many a tear when each cat died. Bat died also but I always have other cats. They would call my house the Nursing Home. I remember knowing whereever I put Bat years earlier, they would put him down or in a cage- God put Diana in my life for my brother. I foster only old cat because those are ones that I know how owners feel if they cannot keep ( if they get ill, nursing home etc)and some where cat of people who died and the people just wanted to get rid of them. This is my way of giving back to something that I never realized existed- the old animals who wet the floor, cost vet bills and die in your arms after a short period of time. I knew my cats were not going to lives for years but after what I learned with Bat I decided this was the road I needed to take. Bat taught me that as sad as it is, old animals are put down, left to die in a cage, and most of them need vet care and don't get it. There were times when people who pass over their cats to me they would ask over and over : You are sure you are going to take him/her to your house" I re-assured them that tier pets would live out the rest of their life, no matter how long in a home with love and other animals. My heart broke when each one passed away because I never had them long enough in my eyes but they lived their older years without abuse, cages etc.

Thats my story
